| Migratory Bird Celebrations |

| During the winter of 2006 we celebrated our love of birdws by coming together to learn about the native birds in our neighborhoods as well as the visiting migratory birds our area plays temporary host to. Wild Birds Unlimited was very helpful with providing us with free educational materials specific to our various neighborhoods across Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. We then spent an afternoon honoring our new friends by making them bird feeders from recycled materials, creating fruit and cereal garlands to hang from the tree, made tree bagels and baked them special cookies filled with bird seed. Each of us took home our gifts to the birds and enjoyed watching them discover them in our own backyards. |
| The second annual Migratory birds celebration was more of an overall love of birds party that was due to be held on Valentine's Day. Unfortunately illness and snow had us move our celebration back a week, but that didnt stop us from having a great day making gifts for the birds in our area. Next year we will participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count program and expand this celebration as part of our new birding club. |
