RGRS Completed Projects

home
RGRS has been a working group since the fall of 2005.  In our short history we have managed to really enjoy many creative, productive and exciting projects.  From meeting Dr. Goodall, to sponsoring an annual event to bring appreciation to the Rio Grande River.  Some of our projects are small, and some are ongoing and rather large, but all of them are based on the outline and standards presented by the Roots & Shoots home office, and the set of standards we created for ourselves.  We focus on projects and events which will serve the environment, human community and, our groups favorite, animals.

Below you will find an outline of the many projects our group has taken on through the last year and a half.  If you have any questions, please email Kari at

Recycling Center Tour
As a part of our desire to educate ourselves about the 3R's; Reduce-Reuse-Recycle, we took a tour of the Intermediate Processing Site.  We learned a lot about how our recycling is handled after it leaves our cubside.  It also inspired some future project ideas.
Seed Collection Project
As an extension of our Petroglyph Hike and educational event we came together with the Petroglyph National Monument to help gather seeds from the wild grasses that grow on our west mesa and around the petroglyph rocks.  This turned out to be a great experience for both RGRS and a service to the petroglyph preservation project.
